A veces pienso que no soy normal ya que las sillas y sillones son tan interesantes para mí. Especialmente me interesa la historia detrás de los objetos que cumplen con los elementos básicos para lograr el éxito:  función, belleza y calidad. Entonces cada vez que veo algún mueble que ha pasado a la historia precisamente por eso, me pongo a investigar el nombre, quién lo hizo y cómo lo hizo. Así qu ehoy les voy a presentar algunas de las sillas que creo son las más bonitas.

La silla CH24 Wishbone fué diseñada por Hans J. Wegner.
Wegner es uno de los diseñadores de muebles más famosos desde el siglo XX y fué uno de los impulsadores del movimiento danés moderno, que cambió la manera que la gente veía a los muebles en los años 1950s y 60s. Totalmente revolucionario. Y de todas las obras de Wegner, creo que esta silla es uno de sus trabajos más conocidos. Es bella, y actualmente sirve como silla. Es cómoda para sentarse y uno se puede quedar varias horas sentado en ella. El asiento de mimbre consiste de 120 metros de  cuerda. La silla wishbone fué diseñada en 1949 y no ha dejado de producirse desde 1950.

La silla Barcelona fué diseñada por Ludwig Mies van der Rohe en 1929 y es definitivamente uno de los objetos más reconocidos del siglo XX. Es también un ícono del movimiento modernista y aparte es un ejemplo perfecto del matrimonio entre buen diseño y buena labor artesanal. Dice la historia que cuando Mies diseñó esta silla, lo hizo pensando en que sería usada por la realeza, mezclando los materiales modernos de la industria naciente, y la idea de las sillas de la antigua Roma. Quería que hubiera armonía entre lo moderno y lo antiguo de nuestros tiempos.

La tercera silla es simplemente hermosa. Hasta el día de hoy, nadie sabe quién es el diseñador de la silla Acapulco. La leyenda dice que se hizo famosa en los años 50-60s. En esos años, Acapulco, México, era la destinación favorita de los actores y las actrices de Hollywood. Elizabeth Taylor se casó ahí, y los Kennedys tuvieron su luna de miel ahí. A esta silla se le nota que fué diseñada especialmente para esa región, ya que tan caliente, que las cuerdas proveen de buen soporte, mientras que el espacio entre las cuerdas permiten que llegue la brisa para que nos refresque la piel...

Sometimes I think I'm not normal but chairs and armchairs are so interesting for me. Every time I see an interesting chair or armachair I tend to investigate their name, who made them and where are they from. So I'm going to share with you some of the best according to my taste.

The CH24 Wishbone chair was designed by Hans J. Wegner. Wegner is one of the most famous furniture designers if the 20th century and a driving force in the Danish modern movement that changed the way people looked at furniture in the 1950s and 1960s. He was son of a shoemaker and when he was 17 years old he started as apprentice to a carpenter. The CH24 chair is maybe the most famous of all his work, and a triumph of craftmanship with a simple design and comfortable seating. The hand-woven seat consist of more then 120 meters of cord. This chair was designed in 1949 and it has been in continous production sice 1950.

The Barcelona chair, designed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe approx. in 1929 is definitively one of the most recognized objects since last century. It's an icon from the modernist movement and the perfect marriage between good design and craftmanship. When Mies designed this chair, he thought of a chair for the royalty, mixing the industry materials from the time and the idea of the chairs from Antique Rome. He wanted to harmonize the new and modern with the antique from our civilization.

The Acapulco chair is just so beautiful. Until today, nobody know who is the designer and when this happened. The leyend says this chair became famous because in the 50s and 60s, Acapulco, (Mexico) was a hot destination for the celebrities in Hollywood. Elizabeth Taylor married there, and the Kennedys had their honeymoon there. This chair is so designed for the region, where is so warm, so the cords provide the confort when seating while the space between let the breeze come to cool down our skin.

Suddenly I started missing the summer.
